Program Note:

Pure Imagination, originally from the Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory soundtrack, has now been done and done again. When going about this arrangement I looked at the Jersey Surf "wake up" rendition from 2017, to pull inspiration. Both the original and the Jersey Surf rendition are beautiful in their own ways, and that's the one thing you need to pull out of those versions to put into this one. This chart is pretty and light, soft and joyful, smooth and creamy. It's like a chocolate bar, it’s sweet and nostalgic. The brass has to unlock this by attacking all of their impacts without being violent. An aggressive tone and approach is not welcomed in this factory!!! Every player needs to make sure they are keeping it light. This lightness will help with the multiple sustains in the chart. When going through any phrase of this chart try to shape it as much as possible. Sprinkle it with some spice, or give it a miracle or two. This chart is supposed to be a wind feature so you better have fun! (sorry rhythm) Overall we are all supposed to have fun and enjoy the beauty of this song while reflecting and enjoying life.
