Jeremy Meza

Composer Arranger Musician

Jeremy Meza is a young and striving musician based in California. As a guitarist, percussionist, wind player, and striving composer/arranger, Jeremy is hoping to leave a mark in the music world. He specializes in experimenting with new forms of music and sound while keeping the old in his back pocket. While performing he loves to challenge himself and give it his all.

Jeremy is currently the director of the Brea Olinda Jazz Club, along with his friend Micheal Turner. This club includes the members who want to join Jazz Band but cannot put it in their school schedule. With only 8 members in the class, Jeremy has to face the challenge of teaching and preparing 24 club members. Along with the help of Micheal Turner and James Charrette, they have brought the jazz band up from a novice band to a low intermediate band within a few months.

Jeremy is also the current captain of the BOHS drumline. With his heart devoted to music, Jeremy found joy in playing the drums. As a fairly new percussionist he has pushed himself to learn more and strives to be the best. This push was encouraged by his past techs and directors such as Kristian De Leon, Sebastian Delgado, Kishan Dutt, James Charrette, and Glenda Bartell. These past educators have made him better today, which has helped him lead the 2021-22 drumline with more passion and love. The BOHS drumline has made it to the ADLA finals 3 years in a row while he has been there, this year being his first year as captain. Jeremy hopes to make it to an independent drumline such as Gold Indoor Percussion, Pulse Percussion, or Broken City Percussion.

In the future Jeremy hopes to be a professional composer and arranger. With his writing career starting at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Jeremy is brand new at writing music. He loves the process of writing and loves the challenge. Jeremy now tries to write in new, fun, and exciting ways. He experiments with sounds, ideas, and challenging parts. He hopes that this love and drive for writing will help him achieve his latest goal of college, where he hopes to continue this love of music. His journey is brand new, yet there is so much to come.
